Automatic Vehicle Location System

Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS) and Automatic Personnel Location System (APLS)

Knowing the location of mobile resources (e.g. police cars, officers on foot) is often seen as an enhancement of the C&C system.  It may also be very useful to the mobile resource itself and to other parts of the organisation.

The Imass AVLS & APLS systems:

  • Help the C&C or Control personnel to identify the most appropriate resources to assign to incidents;

  • Help Control personnel to monitor the progress of resources on-route to an incident, helps to confirm arrival and provides an accurate incident location where this is not known;

  • Help Control personnel to prevent officers (e.g. on routine patrol duty) from unwittingly impacting / happening on other operations;

  • Help in the analysis of the response to particular incidents;

  • Enable routine logging of vehicle/personnel movements for use in the analysis of your overall operations, to provide an overall view of the deployment / utilisation of resources and to provide real travel-time data;

  • Provide evidence, in the event of Insurance Claims or Litigation, where Police vehicles/personnel are alleged to be involved in accidents as they go about their duties, etc;

AVLS also in conjunction with a Police vehicle mobile data system;

  • Helps the mobile resource to know exactly where they are and to navigate to incidents or to other locations;

  • Enables routine logging of radio signal strength / location data on the Police vehicle based mobile data system allowing the Force to analyse radio coverage on a continuous basis without incurring the cost of campaign-based data collection.

Using various levels of GPS technology, together with additional facilities if required, the Imass AVLS and APLS solutions will provide a level of accuracy to suit a wide range of needs under a range of conditions. The intelligence in-built within the Imass solution gives excellent control to tailor the use of the technology as well. This means that the solution generates valuable information without overloading your Mobile Data Communications system.
