Mobile Data Communications Gateway
The Imass
Mobile Data Communications Gateway is a business system
and software application. It has been engineered to fulfil
two primary needs:
Facilitating
and managing Mobile Data Communications, including
AVLS and APLS; Providing
further added value to the business based on Mobile
Data Communications and systems integration with
minimal changes to existing systems.
The
Gateway as an integrating business system is designed to
facilitate and manage bi-directional data communications
with mobile resources (e.g. police vehicles / personnel)
via a range of Mobile Data Communications Bearers,
including:

O2
Airwave
-
GPRS
-
Transcomm
RAM
-
Tetrapol
The
Gateway can provide a mechanism whereby a business
system could be integrated with a number of different
communications bearers. Typically this could then be
used to provide fallback arrangements, alternative
bearers for different types of communications, bearer
selection to minimise costs, etc.
The
Gateway provides integration between an organisation’s
Business Systems (e.g. Command & Control system)
and the Mobile Data communications infrastructure.
However unlike more basic Gateway products, the Imass
Gateway is intelligent. It not only provides an
integrating / message routing facility but also manages
the communications and adds value in other ways.
